North Carolina Judicial Branch
Work samples are available upon request.
Our client needed to redesign its website and realign content in order to better serve the general public.
Design Workshops
Throughout the project, I participated in design workshops, where I strived to act as an advocate for users. Our process was well defined. For each page template, we conducted Page Description Diagrams, Whiteboard Co-design workshops, and high fidelity mockup reviews.
Information Architecture
Though I joined the project after the preliminary site structure and navigation design had been largely completed, I recommended information architecture updates for many lower level pages related to court programs, commissions, and subsites.
Accessibility Review
Our goal for this project was to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA Success Criteria as required by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. While our developers utilized automatic code validation tools, I planned and performed a manual accessibility review to evaluate:
- Keyboard accessibility
- Screenreader accessibility
- Content order and understandability
Writing for the Web Training
Though all content from this project was provided by the client, I provided “Writing for the Web” training. Based on research about the way that web users tend to read websites, this training presented best practices for writing clearly, succinctly, and effectively for online readers.
